Due to my dad’s job, we moved to many city several times as a family. One of those cities we lived in was the beautiful city of Zacatecas, a city considered a World Heritage Site for its beautiful colonial architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For me, living in Zacatecas was the best, because all my cousins also lived there. We often visited my grandparents at their house, which was the family gathering place. In this memory, I was about 3 or 4 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe because I was still very young, but I remember that my parents had a huge car, hahaha. In those days there were no child car seats, so I had to sit in what I felt was a seat for giants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On one occasion I remember that my parents, my brother, a cousin and I went to a store near downtown. My dad was driving the car, and he drove around several times near the place where we were going looking for parking. It wasn’t very close, so when we got out of the car, we walked several blocks to get to the place where my parents wanted to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We entered the store, and for me it was a huge place. If I wasn’t holding my mom’s hand, it was because I was very close to her, and also close to my brother. Since my parents needed to talk to people at the store, I later learned that they told my brother to keep an eye on me. They were going to be there, but their attention wasn’t going to be 100% on me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there, my memory becomes a little blurry. The next thing I remember was that I was crying, looking for my parents and my brother. I was walking alone through the isles of the store, trying to find them. And I couldn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For me, it was an eternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My next memory was that I was crossing the streets, looking for the car, because I thought they had already left for home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a little girl, not seeing my parents led me to believe that I was separated from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Have you ever felt separated from God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is it because you don’t see, hear, or feel Him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nothing separated me from my parents. My small stature, perception, and way of thinking were not enough to realize that my parents would never leave me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Does our perception today require more trust?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gospel tells us how Jesus was tempted while he spent 40 days in the desert. It was because Jesus not only knew, but also trusted the scriptures, that he did not fall into temptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What would help you to trust God more so that you would not fall into temptation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At that time in my childhood, even if it was for a few moments, I felt completely separated from my parents. The feeling was real, but that did not mean that my parents did not love me. In fact, they searched for me frantically, until they found me next to the car. It turns out that I walked alone until I found it. They also had a tremendous scare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Could it be that the feeling, false idea of separation, is the real temptation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What is the temptation, or false idea of separation, that deceives you the most?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the Spirit leads you, share with Jesus the carpenter how you can trust more in his closeness. And perhaps, you will realize that God has always been and will be with you, no matter how you feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
