In one of my grad school classes, we had a professor with great wisdom and a perspective I had never been exposed to. Among other angles, he also offered us the perspective of depth psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we read the articles and books that offered this perspective, it was as if an unknown world, which had always been right in front of me, had opened up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the points mentioned was that when something catches our attention, it is also partly because there is something God wants to reveal to us in a more conscious way. That in those readings, images, or stories, there is something we are ready to receive. And that is why it catches our attention in one way or another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that which catches our attention may be a reflection of an inner area of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And it is inspired by these exercises that I want to invite you to actively engage in reading the psalm for the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you, in addition to reading it and perhaps identifying with some verses, also to read it as a description of your inner self, the song of your inner self, the landscape of your inner self, the earth and water of your inner self.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By doing so, we give God the opportunity to reach our inner selves in a different, deeper way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After you have read the psalm in a place where you are not rushed, I offer you some questions that can guide your curiosity, your communion with Jesus the carpenter, and that can guide your prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I invite you to consider these questions and keep what resonates with you. This isn’t meant to be an intellectual exercise, but rather an exploration to give voice to whatever arises from a deeper place within you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which part of you has seen the Savior?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What do you yearn for in your heart?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is there a part of you that seeks justice and righteousness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is there a part of you that hasn’t seen or experienced the Savior?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the Spirit leads you, share with Jesus the Carpenter what arises within you. And perhaps, together you will walk through the landscape of your inner self in a way you haven’t yet discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
