I had a conversation with a friend, and the talk soon took on a deep level.
She asked: why doesn’t God change things? I have already asked him many times, for a long time, in different ways and I no longer know how to ask him.
She was referring to a personal situation that was getting worse as time went on. It was a complex situation, in which many others were involved..
Her question echoed what many of us have wondered at some point in our lives, why doesn’t God change things? A question that takes on even more meaning when we have ‘offered’ some prayers, fasting or sacrifices.
How many of us haven’t waited for a response from God, after doing with what we asume God expects from us. Although it is a valid position, it is not necessarily the only way that God responds.
God DOES listen to our prayers and petitions, and at the same time they are not a requirement to receive the divine love. God listens and grants within the mystery that is his love. But when?
There is no way to know. Answered prayers are not the interest on our investment deposited in a heavenly bank. There is no ATM where the PIN to access answered prayers is a sacrifice or a pilgrimage promise. God does not ask me for anything to love me, and God does not ask you for anything to love you. What is needed them? Allowing ourselves to be loved.
In a very mysterious way, God holds eternity in the palm of his hand. In his love, he is always present, was always present, and will always be present.
One way for us to approach this mystery, may be remembering that there is still time ahead of us. Eternity is not over.
God, does change things. When you and I, when each one of us allows love to penetrate more deeply into our soul, mind, body, heart and will, becomes less difficult for us to perceive when God changes things. Still, the change may not be what we ask for, or maybe it is.
God works for you, with you, and in you. And at the same time, also in your neighbors. So we work together. By the way, when was the last time that we allow God to change our will?
Let’s remember, we continue our path, and eternity is not over.
For you who are ready to work more deeply within yourself from a faith perspective, I invite you to sign up for any of the monthly inner work workshops, where we explore our part of change or spiritual growth. We learn to work with Jesus in our interior workshop, as Jesus learned to work with Saint Joseph, in The Workshop of Nazareth. With love, patience, and practice.
Send me a private message for more information.
You will work with God on the inside, to live fully on the outside.
